Working with a non-athletic school club The following is the process for becoming a school
volunteer: · If a
volunteer packet is not required (see above), contact the organization
in question for information on joining, meeting times, etc. · If a
volunteer packet is required (see above), you must follow these
guidelines: o
Obtain a volunteer packet » Hard
copies available in the main office » Electronic
copy available by clicking on the link below o
Page 7 (Internet Permission Form) is not necessary
unless the volunteer will be required to communicate with individual students
via email. This form must be
completed by the parent/guardian of each student and returned with the
completed packet to Ms. Gamez. o
Page 6 (Certification of Freedom from Tuberculosis)
MUST be filled out in either of the following situations: » Volunteering
for more than 5 hours per week » Volunteering
for an overnight field trip o
Pages 2 (Volunteer Enrollment Form), 3 (Background
Check), & 4 (Volunteer Release Form) are mandatory and must be turned in to
Ms. Gamez in the main office.
Copies off each of these forms will be kept on file at the school. o
The original page 3 will be forwarded by the school
to the CPS Office of Safety and Security.
The volunteer’s record will be checked for any prior criminal
convictions. » Should a
criminal conviction be found, a letter will be sent via email to the school
principal asking that the volunteer be sent in for fingerprinting and further
background screening. The results
of this screening will determine the candidate’s eligibility to volunteer at
the school. Final approval is left
to the discretion of the principal.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE CANDIDATE VOLUNTEER THEIR SERVICES UNTIL
THEY ARE CLEARED BY SAFETY AND SECURITY. » If no

principal declaring the candidate eligible to volunteer. Final approval is left to the
discretion of the principal. UNDER
NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE CANDIDATE VOLUNTEER THEIR SERVICES UNTIL THEY ARE
CLEARED BY SAFETY AND SECURITY. The following are ways in which volunteering is NOT
PERMITTED at Kenwood Academy: · Security
guard, hall monitor, or in any capacity where a conflict or disciplinary
concern with a student may arise · Coach on
any school team o
If a parent wishes to be on the coaching staff,
then they should apply for a paid position with the team o
The number of paid coaches varies by the sport and
is determined by CPS Sports Administration o
Head coaches are interviewed and hired by the
administration and Athletic Director o Assistant coaches are selected by the head coaches and approved by the administration |
